Tasiast

The Tasiast gold mine has been operated since 2010 by Kinross Gold Corporation through its wholly-owned subsidiary Tasiast Mauritanie Limited S.A. (TMLSA). Located in the middle of large desert expanses, 300 kilometers northeast of Nouakchott in the Inchiri region, Tasiast is an open-pit mine. The gold contained in the ore mined from the pits is recovered through a processing plant and heap leach facilities. Tasiast's proven and probable gold reserves are estimated at 6330 million ounces of gold

BP established its presence in Mauritania and Senegal in 2017, following the discovery of a gas field which straddles the maritime border of the two countries. Since entering in Mauritania and Senegal, bp partnered with Kosmos Energy, Mauritanian Company for Hydrocarbons  (SMH) and Oil Company of Senegal (PETROSEN) on the development of the multi-phase Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) Project.

The Central Bank of Mauritania

The Central Bank of Mauritania created by Law No. 73-118 of May 30, 1973 amended by Laws 74-118 of June 8, 1974 and 75-332 of December 26, 1975, is a legal person whose organization, management, the control, powers, objectives, instruments and operations are determined by Law No. 034/2018/PR/ on the statutes of the Central Bank of Mauritania.

Ms. Lam is the Director General of the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania (APIM), the Governmental entity in charge of National and Foreign Direct Investments, as well as the investment climate of the country. Through the Agency, Ms. Lam promotes and implements the vision of Mauritania, led by H.E President Mohamed Cheikh Ould Ghazouani, for a sustainable and more inclusive development driven by stronger productive sectors. Ms. Lam is passionate about youth and women economic empowerment matters on the continent, pertaining to access to finance for start-ups & SMES and enabling the ecosystem for women entrepreneurs. She is the co-founder of the Youth Chamber of Commerce of Mauritania, an organization created with the mission to bridge the gap for young Mauritanian Professionals and Entrepreneurs, mainly through the i-Lab, an Innovation Lab and Venture Fund - launched in partnership with the National Bank of Mauritania. She sits on the monitoring committee of the Covid-19 fund established in 2020 by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani. Ms Lam is also a member of the advisory councils of the G7 Gender Equality Council led by French President Emmanuel Macron and the Middle East Institute. Ms Lam is a graduate of HEC Montreal and Harvard University, in Finance and International Business. Ms. Lam was listed on BBC 100 most influential women in the World in 2019 and was awarded the Mauritanian “Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite” medal.

Mohamed Habiboullah MOHAMED AHMED

Mr. Mohamed Habiboullah Mohamed Ahmed is an experienced specialist with a solid background in economics and management. He is currently Deputy Director General of the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania, where he applies his rich and varied experience acquired in both the public and private sectors. Mr. Habiboullah holds a Master's degree in Audit and Management Control, as well as a Master's degree in Economic Planning. Constantly striving to improve his skills, he has taken various training courses and obtained certificates in financial analysis and strategic marketing, giving him multi-dimensional expertise. His career path includes senior positions in the public sector, where he played a key role in promoting the country's investment and economic development. He began his career in the agricultural sector, holding senior positions in the Ministry of Rural Development. He later occupied key positions in the Ministry of the Economy, including Director General for the Promotion of the Private Sector, Chargé de Mission and Advisor to the Minister's Cabinet, where he applied his skills to the service of government policy in this field. In addition, Mr. Habiboullah has considerable experience in the private sector. He has worked successfully in various sectors, including telecommunications, engineering and consulting. This experience has given him an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the private sector, strengthening his ability to encourage concerted action and public-private partnership.

Mr. Moustapha Maouloud is the Technical Advisor in charge of Business Climate at the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania (APIM), the government entity in charge of direct national and foreign investment, as well as the country's investment climate. He directs and coordinates the work of the Single Window teams, which is the operational structure within APIM in charge of applying the terms of the Investment Code to facilitate and simplify the legal procedures for setting up businesses, and responding rapidly to the various requests from investors, with a view to obtaining the benefits of the Investment Code in terms of implementing private investment projects. Mr. Maouloud is passionate about reform and modernization of public administration, a subject on which he has been working for over a decade. He is a member of the government group in charge of piloting reforms regarding procedures and support for entrepreneurs. He is also a contributor to World Bank Group (WBG) projects on the business and investment climate. As such, he has received several expressions of appreciation from the WBG for this collaboration.

He has held key positions such as General Director, Deputy General Director, and Advisor to the CEO within several major banking institutions. An expert in implementing financial and operational strategies, he has successfully led numerous growth and development initiatives. With his project management skills, he effectively plans, executes, and controls projects, while his market trend analysis skills enable him to identify growth opportunities. Endowed with strong communication and leadership abilities, he efficiently coordinates cross-functional teams and contributes to problem-solving and risk management in projects.

Fatimetou Bellamech

Director of the Single Window for Entreprises

Ms. Bellamech joined APIM after serving as Director of Business Support at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Mauritania. Versatile, she holds a dual professional Master's degree in Information Systems and Networks (University of Tours - France) and Project Management (Gaston Berger University - Senegal) and has undergone several training courses in computer programming, Business Support Services Engineering, entrepreneurial coaching, economic intelligence, Public-Private Partnerships, and Industrial Property. With 14 years of experience in implementing digital solutions, private sector development, SME support services, private sector development strategies, business climate improvement reforms, and designing and implementing private sector development programs. She has been a member of several multisectoral steering committees and a jury member for several national entrepreneurship and innovation competitions and has actively participated in the implementation process of the African Trade Observatory-ATO. She also has strong experience in developing strategic documents and frameworks and translating them into action plans. Ms. Bellamech is passionate about digital topics, female and youth entrepreneurship, business formalization, investment promotion, and innovation.

Mr. Atigh Soueidatt is Director of Project Targeting and Implementation at the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania. He holds professional masters degrees in entrepreneurship, accounting, auditing and management control from the Faculté des Sciences Économiques et de Gestion in Sfax, as well as from ISAAS UIT in Tunisia. He also obtained a research master's degree in financial risk management from the Université de Cergy Pontoise in France. With over 14 years of experience, he has worked in various fields such as auditing, statutory auditing, accounting and tax assistance, as well as administrative and financial management. He stands out for his training and coaching skills in the fields of management, finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, project management and business creation. Holder of a Master's degree in Audit and Management Control from ISEG Bordeaux, Mohamed El Habib Touré spent 5 years in the energy sector in France as Head of Cash Flow Analysis and Collection before returning to Mauritania in 2014. He worked for 8 years in the banking sector, progressively holding positions such as Director of General Ressources, Director of Human Resources, Director of Organization, and Director of Sales. Drawing on his extensive experience, particularly in project analysis and financing, he joined APIM in 2022 as the Director of Investment Analysis and Monitoring.
