Expansion of APIM’s Mandate and Strengthening of its Role
By decision of the Council of Ministers on September 17, 2025, the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania (APIM) is now placed under the direct authority of the Prime Minister.
This new institutional positioning reflects the clear will of the country’s highest authorities to accelerate the mobilization of private investment as a strategic lever for economic transformation. It also aims to strengthen the coherence of public policies and provide the Agency with the necessary means to fully accomplish its missions and realize its development ambitions.
APIM’s mandate has also been expanded. In addition to its current responsibilities, the Agency will now be in charge of promoting Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), as well as coordinating Mauritania’s participation in trade fairs, forums, and specialized events at both the national and international levels. The decision also provides for the expansion of its Board of Directors to include new ministerial departments.
This development is part of a comprehensive approach to consolidating APIM’s central role in the national investment promotion framework, while supporting the State’s efforts to build a more dynamic, inclusive, and competitive private sector capable of effectively contributing to the process of economic development.
