FEMMPACT II: Promoting and Supporting Women’s Entrepreneurship in Mauritania

The Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania (APIM) continues the deployment of the FEMMPACT II program, in partnership with JCCM i-Lab and the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), to support Mauritanian women entrepreneurs with high-potential projects.

This year, the program targets early-stage women entrepreneurs operating in agro-industry, tech, and handicrafts.

In Mauritania, FEMMPACT II is structured around a three-phase program:

Phase 1 – Training of Trainers: Held in September in Morocco, this phase brought together trainers from all three countries for joint capacity-building sessions.

Phase 2 – National Support: Implemented in Mauritania, this phase provided women entrepreneurs with practical training, personalized coaching sessions, and field immersion, particularly at the Zeinart Producers’ Market, fostering exchanges between local producers and project leaders.

Phase 3 – Entrepreneurial Residency in Morocco: Selected participants will receive intensive support aimed at improving their projects, strengthening research and development (R&D), and integrating into Moroccan innovation networks.

The closing ceremony of Phase 2, held on November 8, 2025, featured presentations of developed projects and the selection of six women entrepreneurs who will take part in Phase 3 in December.

Through this initiative, APIM reaffirms its commitment to strengthening women’s inclusion in the development of Mauritania’s private sector, in line with its mission to promote SMEs and enhance the country’s economic attractiveness.

The FEMMPACT program, funded by GIZ Morocco and the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), and implemented by the Social Innovation Lab (SIL) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), is the result of a triangular cooperation between Germany, Morocco, and Sub-Saharan Africa. It now extends to several beneficiary countries, including Mauritania, Benin and Togo.
