Dr Tah Ahmed Meouloud, Director General of the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania (APIM), presented investment prospects in Mauritania’s digital economy during a panel on future digital industries at the World Investment Forum 2026 in Doha.
His remarks covered data centres, regional connectivity infrastructure, financial technology, e-commerce and business process outsourcing. He cited Mauritania’s geographic location, international connectivity and renewable energy potential among the factors that could support the development of these activities.
The digitalization of public services, the expansion of digital payments and the needs of major mining and energy projects also create opportunities for companies specialising in digital technologies and services, he said.
Dr Meouloud also highlighted the role of the regulatory framework, including the Investment Code and legislation on public-private partnerships, in creating conditions conducive to investment and infrastructure development.
He noted that APIM supports investors in identifying opportunities, facilitating projects and establishing operations in Mauritania.
