On 24 September 2026, the Investment Promotion Agency of Mauritania (APIM), in collaboration with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), co-organized the launch workshop of the project “Improving Investment Policy-Making to Promote an Inclusive, Responsible and Sustainable Digital Economy in Africa” in Nouakchott.
The opening session featured remarks by Mr. Mohamed Habiboullah Mohamed Ahmed, Deputy Director General of APIM; Ms. Chantal Dupasquier, Chief of Investment Policy Reviews at UN Trade and Development, joining online; and Ms. Aurélie Fabry, Head of the Office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mauritania.
Bringing together public and private stakeholders from the digital ecosystem, the workshop provided an opportunity to present the project’s objectives, stages and methodology, while gathering contributions and information from national stakeholders on the investment environment in the digital economy.
This work will assess existing policies, regulatory frameworks and institutional arrangements to identify areas for improvement and formulate recommendations tailored to the Mauritanian context. The project will also strengthen the capacities of relevant stakeholders to support the adoption and implementation of the tools needed to develop the digital economy.
